Latest School News Litter Pickers - Keeping our school tidy! Recently students in Year 7 and 8 have had the opportunity to help tackle waste and litter at the school after we were kindly lent 45 litter pickers by Rugby Borough Council. Each day two tutor group have been using their litter pickers during registration to help make the school a better place by removing waste from the school grounds. Currently around the UK there are a number of campaigns aiming to reduce litter, waste and in particular plastic pollution. We’re pleased that with the support of the local council, our students have had opportunity to make a small contribution to this. All students who have been involved can rightly feel proud of themselves. Dumbledore’s Army; Still Recruiting! Calling all witches and wizards! For twenty magical years, the Harry Potter books have graced our shelves, DVD cases, and even a huge theme park in Orlando! Over the last few years, as the Potter generations grow up, the original stories fall in line behind the movies, and we have a host of little Hogwarts-attendees who do not know the beauty of Peeves, Firenze, and the heart- breaking fate of Mr and Mrs Longbottom. Here at AVS, we are asking for your help to bring to life the pages once again. You could be a part of our very own ‘Order of the Phoenix’ and help defeat the new ‘Dark Lord – Lack of Reading!’ Your part would be simple; find your old and preloved versions of any Harry Potter book that is gathering dust and donate them to our school Library. We will dedicate each book to the giver and allow future generations to feel the friendship of the golden trio, debate the character of Snape and blossom into a fully-fledged Marauder!
