AVS 50 Read to Lead was
launched as a new initiative at
the start of the academic year
in September 2017. Aimed at
able Year 7 readers, with a
remit to broaden their reading
choices, it has gone from
strength to strength…we now
have a waiting list of those eager to join!
Year 10, Read to Lead Ambassadors have
been truly amazing at inspiring
the Year 7 participants, helping
them choose suitable books,
discussing those read and
helping them to explore key
themes and ideas in the novels.
The feedback from Year 7 has
been very positive. Many have
even requested that we roll this
out to Year 8, to ensure they can
carry on having this time in tutor
to read once a week – a proven
success therefore it would seem!
I look forward to working with the new Year 7
participants next year and hope they too will
be equally inspired to read a wider range of
novels that challenge and excite them.
