Maths Teacher ‘ Braves the Shave ’

Maths teacher Tom Jewell is appealing for donations for losing his locks in front of the school students yesterday . So far , Mr Jewell has received £ 380 in online donations , and is aiming to break his £ 400 target .
When speaking about his motivation Mr Jewell said “ I have friends who have died due to cancer and others who have survived . I don ’ t feel I can pick one person to do it for , but know that cancer effects so many of us . As I am known for my long hair I felt this was something I could do to help more people survive .” According to MacMillan ’ s Brave the Shave website “ Across the UK , thousands of incredible people are getting sponsored to shave their hair for Macmillan Cancer Support . Whatever the reason , whoever they do it for - by braving the shave , they are helping Macmillan support even more people living with cancer . Since 2015 , brave shavers have raised over £ 16.8 million .”
Headteacher , Alison Davies , said “ Throughout the year we raise thousands of pounds for charities . By supporting different charities our students learn about the good causes and have opportunity to show their generous nature . I know the students enjoyed seeing Mr Jewell lose his hair , and I wish him all the best with his fundraising efforts for Macmillan .” Anyone wishing to donate can do so via Mr Jewell ’ s official ‘ Brave the Shave ’ fundraising page : https :// bravetheshave . macmillan . org . uk / shavers / thomas-jewell
Health Watch - Be prepared for the hot weather
At present we are experiencing very warm weather .
Please ensure that your child has plenty of water to keep them hydrated whilst at school during the hot spell .
Students may also want to bring sun cream , if they are spending time outside or participating in PE lessons during the school day .
If your child suffers with hay fever , then allergy relief can be stored in the medical room along with any other medication .
