Guys & Dolls
On Stage
Well done to Student Welfare
Leader Mr Herring who has recently
been on stage in Rugby Theatre’s
production of ‘Guys & Dolls’.
This is a musical romantic comedy involving
the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings: a high
rolling gambler and a puritanical missionary,
a showgirl dreaming of the straight-and-
narrow and a card game manager.
Guys and Dolls tells of con-man Nathan
Detroit’s efforts to find a new life for his illegal
but notorious card game. When their trusty
venue is found out by the police, Nathan has
to quickly find a new home for his game. He
doesn’t have the money to secure the
location that he finds. Enter Sky Masterson, a
gambler willing to take on any honest bet with
a high enough reward attached. Nathan bets
Sky that he can’t take the “Doll” of his
choosing to Havana, Cuba, with him on a
date.
Tap your feet as the drama unfolds and this
musical takes you from the bustle of Times
Square to the dance clubs of Havana & relish
such classic songs as “Luck Be a Lady”, "Sit
Down You're Rocking the Boat" and the
beautiful ballad "I've Never Been in Love
Before".
