The Science department have been working hard to improve the outcomes for all our students . Whilst we have a number of initiatives to support students in all year groups , the start of the year has seen two new initiatives introduced to aid Year 11 students with their revision .
The Sunday Supplement
All parents and carers of Year 11 students have been sent a new revision resource that has been created by the Science team . The resource contains two revision guides covering the Core Science and Additional Science GCSEs , a parental booklet containing weekly quizzes and a tracking sheet to record how well a child has done in each quiz .
Many parents want to know how to help their child with revision ; the quizzes provide the opportunity to get involved whilst chunking the revision into a weekly schedule . The aim is that at the end of the week , possibly a Sunday , parents could spend 10-15 minutes using the quiz to see how well the revision is going . The outcome can then be recorded on the tracker sheet so that progress can be seen as the weeks go on .
Exams can be a very stressful time and it is inevitable that students will cram at the end . We hope that by starting revision early and regularly assessing progress , our pack will help to ease some of the anxiety close to the exams .
Many of our students have found that finding a revision tool that suits their learning style is difficult . As a result , the Science department have taken on researching this and we are delighted to have found a new resource that has proven results .
Tassomai is an online revision tool that requires students to log in for just 10 - 20 minutes a day . During this time , they complete short multiple choice quizzes that feed into the software to create a bespoke learning tool .
