GCSE Art and Design as an Option
Options evening is looming for Year 8 students, so we thought we would give a little taster of what to expect if
they chose Art and Design as a subject for their GSCEs.
Below are some examples of the boards that our current GCSE students are working on for their coursework.
These display their skills in different types of media, inspired by their artist research, where they looked at
compositions, use of materials, and subject matters. All of this coursework provides a vital basis for the
student to select and refine an idea for their final piece.
These boards demonstrate student’s chosen mixed media, and the artist research they have used for
inspiration. Their annotations explain why they have chosen these ideas, and how they developed them.
