RE and PSHE Religious Education Students in Year 7 have begun to study the religion of Islam, and what it means to be a Muslim, and those in Year 8 have been studying morality and ethics within society. They have looked at where we get our morals from, and how these impact upon our decision making as we get older. Year 9 have made an excellent start to the GCSE psychology course. They are currently looking at traditional and modern day Christian practises and have produced some outstanding classwork so far. Year 11 are moving towards the end of their GCSE RE course and now begin the steady climb towards the impeding GCSE’s. The course has consisted of students studying both Islam and Christianity, before applying knowledge of these to moral issues within society Reminder – GCSE revision after school – See Ms O’Connor GCSE RE Dates - Monday 14th May pm – The study of religions: beliefs, teachings and practices Wednesday 16th May pm - Thematic studies PSHE Year 7 students have been learning about the importance of a growth mindset and how this can be applied to our studies in order to improve our attitudes towards our learning and ability to succeed in life. Students I dentified the barriers they had to success and how these can be overcome with a little help from our core growth mindset skills -  Motivation  Persistence  Resilience  Curiosity  Risk taking  Flexibility Friends of The Avon Valley School A group of parents has recently expressed an interest in forming a ‘Friends of The Avon Valley School’ group to help the school with fund raising and also to schedule a couple of social events a year.
