MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD TEACHER
Dear Parents and Carers
The role of a Headteacher is , as I am sure you all realise , a busy and varied one which encompasses many activities . One activity that I am fortunate to be able to carry out throughout the year is visiting lessons to observe the quality of teaching and learning and the progress that students are making over time . Last week I spent Thursday and Friday visiting all of the Social Studies teachers to see the progress that students are making in Geography , History , RE and Psychology . I was extremely pleased with the quality of work that I saw within the faculty ; lessons were engaging and well planned , student ’ s books were generally well presented , showing an excellent attitude to learning , and student behaviour was exemplary with all of our students actively engaged in the lesson and keen to do their best . It was a real pleasure to be able to feed back to Mrs Collins , the Head of Faculty , on Friday evening about the excellent quality of work that I observed .

The Mayor of Rugby Borough Council visits Avon Valley , and this terms Performing Arts , RE and Art Updates !
A few weeks ago I wrote about the increased focus on literacy with our Year 7 students , and I am pleased to say that a growing number of students are getting involved in reading . A select group of students are now reading to office staff in the morning during tutor time and the school would very much welcome volunteers for an early morning reading session . If any of you have time on your hands after the early morning school run and would like to be involved , please contact my PA on bale . t2 @ welearn365 . com A final word from me to remind you that we have a music performance taking place at 6pm on Valentines Day . Please do come along for a romantic start to your evening in the AVS theatre !
Regards ,
Alison Davies Head Teacher
