Recruitment for Warwickshire Police Cadets is now open and they are recruiting
young people from 13 to 16 years old.
From September 2018 the Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police Cadets will
follow the National Volunteer Police Cadet model to include young people between the ages of 13 and 18,
that’s Yr 9 – Yr 12.
Recruitment closes 28 th Feb 2018.
It is aimed at young people who wish to be part of a two-year programme that offers an opportunity to gain a
practical understanding of policing and develop their spirit of adventure and good citizenship.
Cadets support local policing priorities through volunteering, working with partner agencies and positive
participation in their communities. They take part in a variety of activities including self-defence training,
marching, fitness, team building, role playing and outdoor events. Cadets can gain an insight into police life
through talks by guest speakers from different departments and agencies, and by taking part in local
community policing events.
Police cadets are a family where discipline, friendship and team work are all important.
If you become a police cadet, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that as a young person you are
making a difference to your community and developing yourself for any future career.
In return you are asked to commit to attend the weekly meetings and to give 15 hours of voluntary work per
quarter.
Meetings will take place every Thursday between 6.15pm and 9.15pm at the following locations:

Warwickshire Police Website, under cadets, how to apply.

I’m sure all parents will have been shocked by recent cases in the news where adults have been arrested in
connection with sexual exploitation of children. Sadly, a vast number of victims will in the first instance have
been groomed on social media sites, where they will have been under the illusion they were actually
speaking to a child of similar age. I am sure we all agree that navigating social media can be a minefield
and it is important that parents are aware of the risks that their children are being exposed to.
It is also unfortunately the case that many youngsters now use Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and other
similar platforms to verbally threaten or abuse those they fall out with. As this takes place out of school it is
not something we as a school have the ability to monitor but we do spend a significant amount of time
working to repair damaged friendships.
I would like to ask all of you to please check your son’s or daughter’s mobile phone or internet devices on
occasion to ensure that they are not at risk or using the device to bully or intimidate others. I am sure that
for the majority
