CHRISTMAS AT AVON VALLEY It has been a tradition since 2004 that we serve our staff and students a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. The canteen staff, led by Mrs Hopkins our Catering Manager, have worked hard to ensure it is cooked fresh every day as well as providing other meals for the rest of the school. Friday, 9th December was the start of our celebrations with Year 11 dining together. Monday 12th December saw the students and staff from Apollo house join together for their lunch. This tradition will continue until Thursday with the remaining three houses following suit. It is a special time at school as we share this event with our friends, colleagues and students. Our thanks go to the ladies of the catering team in going the extra mile, yet again. This week also sees us holding our Celebration Assemblies for each year group. At the end of each term, it is a long-standing tradition at Avon Valley that students’ hard work and achievement are celebrated during the Gold Book assemblies. Each subject has nominated 2 students in each year group and as a result, 200 students across the school have received a Gold Book award this week. Congratulations to them all and we look forward to holding these assemblies again at Easter. Our final assembly for 2016 is a reflection of the year, with music and dance. We always finish with our staff pantomime when our staff draw on their theatrical side to entertain the students; it has to be seen to be believed! This is a fitting way to end our term as we all break up to celebrate Christmas with our families and friends.
