PHYSICAL EDUCATION On Monday evening the U16 Girls Football squad travelled to RTJFC at Kilsby Lane to face North Leamington School in the County Cup Final. After a very successful and promising route to the final, having beaten Stratford High School with a 5-0 victory in the semi final, the girls were feeling confident. The girls where boosted by the recent addition of Aston Villa player Millie Webb, who added more strength to the side. Valley opted to play with the wind on their side in the first half and it certainly played to their advantage. Some fantastic through balls from Webb and the Andrade twins meant that within the first 5 minutes both Bailey O'Toole and Taylor had got their names on the score sheet giving Valley a 2-0 lead. The girls were creating chance after chance and North Leamington didn't know how to respond. As the first half progressed with Webb putting in some fantastic crosses and hitting the crossbar twice, the girls could have been at least 5-0 up! With minutes to go Bailey O'Toole slotted home her second goal, making it 3-0 going into half time. However, during the second half, the tables were turned. Harden forgot what sport she was playing and a handball lead to a penalty, making it 3-1. The girls were tired and North Leamington came back fighting creating numerous chances. Some fantastic defending from the Valley kept them in the game. Captain Kucharska made some crucial tackles and goalkeeper Harden made some acrobatic saves! Let’s just say there was huge sigh of relief and a cheer when the final whistle was finally blown. What an excellent end to a fantastic season. Well done to all girls who played and thanks to ex student and coach Summer Stewardson and Miss Partridge who have worked so hard with all players. Mr Payne Faculty Leader of Physical Education
