AVC Multimedia e-Book Series eBook#4: Vayots Dzor | Page 54

The winding valleys and wild hillsides of Vayots Dzor are great to explore any time of year. But there are some special occasions to visit this least-populated but very popular region of Armenia. Mark your calendars!

Winter – Snowman Festival

Summer – Ecotourism Festival

What better way to spend a chilly February day than by the mineral spring waters of Jermuk? Since 2012, visitors have been trying their hands at the annual snowman competition, or enjoying skiing and other weekend outdoor activities in this resort town. Hiking through the snow or taking in some views – and some pictures – while riding the local ski lift are also great reasons to visit Jermuk in the wintertime.

Organized for the first time in June 2016, visitors can join the rural communities of Vayots Dzor, surrounded by fantastic fields and hills, to commune with nature through hiking, birdwatching, biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, camping, and yoga. Local artisans also set up booths with their unique crafts on sale and, of course, delicious treats are never too far away.
