Kenatsut! (Cheers!) The production of alcoholic beverages is quite well developed in Armenia. The most popular drinks worth trying are beer, vodka, wine and, of course, cognac/brandy. Popular local beer brands include Kilikia, Kotayk, Erebouni and Gyumri -all named for Armenian regions and cities. For instance, Erebouni is named after the historical name of Yerevan.
Local mulberry and apricot vodkas (oghi) are especially worth trying. These vodkas are most often strong homemade concoctions distilled from the fruit of mulberry or apricot trees.
