Introduction

The Coat of Arms of Yerevan City

The coat of arms depicts a winged lion holding a scepter, symbolizing power, standing atop a pedestal. There is a crown over his head with a flower rising from its center, symbolizing the tree of life. The lion wears a shield with the symbol of eternity and Mount Ararat on its chest.

An apricot-bronze colored inscription in

Armenian that reads “Yerevan” (ԵՐԵՎԱՆ) sits

against the blue background.

The coat of arms was designed by Albert Sokhikyan.

The Flag of Yerevan City

The flag has a rectangular form with a white background that symbolizes purity and clarity. The coat of arms of Yerevan is depicted in the center of the flag, surrounded by twelve red triangles which represent the twelve historical capitals of Armenia.

The colors used in the coat of arms are the same as in the flag of Armenia emphasizing the importance of Yerevan as capital. The flag was designed by Karapet Abrahamyan and Karapet Pashyan.
