AVC Multimedia e-Book Series e-Book#3: AGBU 100 Years of History (Vol. II) | Page 6

The original copy of the One Hundred Years of History two-volume book, co-authored by Raymond H. Kevorkian and Vahe Tachjian, was published in 2006, at the suggestion of AGBU President Berge Setrakian. Celebrating the centennial of the organization, the book was to become the means through which the organization’s hundred years of history could be examined, assessed and learned from. The book has

been translated to English and Western Armenian in addition to its original publication in French, and has served as a reference book for numerous readers around the world interested in the history of the Armenian Nation.

2016 marks the 110th anniversary of AGBU. The decade following the original publication of this book was a period of tremendous growth for AGBU, during which the organization successfully incorporated new global approaches and trends in its programs and domain of activities. In particular, AGBU was a pioneer in redefining education to keep up with state-of-the-art techniques in this domain. A response to the digital age was the launch of the AVC Multimedia e-Book Series, an electronic publication of books and resources by the AGBU Armenian Virtual College.

As we celebrate the 110th anniversary of AGBU, we wish to present One Hundred Years of History in a new format that is in accordance with AGBU’s endeavor to redefine the Armenian experience in education. The content of the original book, in terms of text and photos, has been fully preserved. Multimedia features, such as recordings, videos, timelines, etc., have been added to digitally enhance the two volumes to meet the expectations of modern-day e-book readers.

I would like to thank the co-authors of One Hundred Years of History, Raymond H. Kevorkian and Vahe Tachjian, for entrusting us with the digitalization of the book. I would like to thank Boris Adjemian in providing the soft manuscript and resources for this task. The publication of this electronic version would have not been possible without the financial support of AGBU to the AVC Multimedia e-Book Series. I would like to deeply acknowledge and thank AGBU President Berge Setrakian for his vision and continuous support to AVC in its role to modernize Armenian education.

I hope the e-Book becomes an electronic reference for historians, and an enjoyable e-read for those who want to learn about AGBU’s first one hundred years of history.
