Entertainment in the News Teenager with Asperger’s wins best actor award at Manchester Indie Short Film Festival Lancashire, UK – A teenager with Asperger’s syndrome has won a much sought film award for his starring role inThrow Me to the Dogs. Lewis Bradshaw, who is 15, was cast in the lead role in the short film by Aaron Dunleavy, a filmmaker from Blackburn. Lewis appears in the film beside his foster parent Peter Quinn. The film took only a week to film in February this year. Behind the Wall- An Autism Performance Piece’ to take the stage at Fringe NYC A performance piece created by the Ally Artists Group was presented at the 19th annual New York International Fringe Festival, which will take place Aug. 14 to 30 of this year. “Behind the Wall- An Autism Performance Piece” is inspired by one of its creators and performers, Joyce Lao, who grew up with a brother who has autism. The performance piece also features lighting designer Andy Miyamotto, who also happens to play the role of Clarence, Joyce’s brother who has autism. It aims to show how Joyce was able to deal with the challenges that came with her brother’s condition, and it also hopes to show an interpretation of how individuals with autism see the world around them.. 17
