A JOURNEY OF UNPARALLED PROPORTIONS

Besides providing a safe environment to voice one’s fears, Dr. Barber understood that students rarely perform at the same levels nor do they conduct themselves in the same way, therefore her decision to permit students to learn through modalities of their own choosing was a strategic move that inspired visual learners like myself to achieve deeper understanding, especially when there were difficult concepts to be tackled. Furthermore, her endorsement of alternative processes promotes more original work, encourages greater creativity, and supports freedom of expression; all of which gives students the confidence to delve into unfamiliar territory and take ownership of their learning in ways that are meaningful to themselves.
