The level of research for this project was intense and included travel to some of the most renowned water utilities overseas in France and the UK. “The review process of their control rooms and understanding how they operate provided beneficial insight and understanding of their systems and how they manage their operations. We were also able to take away lessons and apply this to our organisational situation,” Dowling said. “By taking on their learnings, we knew we would be taking a step up to reach the standards of other global utilities in this industry. This was a benchmark we wanted to set,” he said. “This will drive us to ensure we will be as efficient as anywhere nationally and internationally and have live information about the network and its current state and future response needs” he said. The scope of the work relating to the operations, monitoring and control has four significant aspects: design of an Operations Monitoring and Control centre; design of monitoring and control infrastructure; development of network operating scenarios; and
