Rocla’s CleansAll® gross pollutant trap (GPT) is proving its worth in a whole new application at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club (SCTC)’s Corbould Park Racecourse. Alan Trevanion of AYT Construction has a longstanding relationship with Corbould Park and had previously installed a number of Rocla’s GPTs for customers. “The park management were frustrated with the existing system processing the waste from washing down the horses,” he said. “It was clogging up and expensive with the need for sucker trucks to empty the system regularly.” Alan suggested installing a GPT. A big concern with any new system was the number of substances in the runoff that were not typical – track rubber caught in the horses hooves, horse hair, hay and sawdust – not exactly sand and silt! “This application is absolutely unique,” says Nathan Swaffer – Rocla Sales Engineer. “The cleansall® units typically pull sediments and organic rubbish out of stormwater – but this is being used to pull horse hair and rubber out of a sewer line. “The cleansall® basket catches the larger particles and the sump underneath the basket is the second line of defense for smaller particles. You can see the dirty water going in and clear water coming out.” Downstream effects of an inefficient system had been causing all manner of issues for park maintenance. “The new unit has dramatically improved the efficiency of the downstream water treatment plant as well, reducing the main
