SECURITY Security Technician Certification An ASIAL initiative, the Security Technician Certification program provides professional recognition and an industry recognised career pathway for all technicians working in the security industry. The online training resources, face-to-face theory and practical assessments are provided by a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation. The STC credential is a three-level technical certification program for the electronic security industry that covers alarms, access control, CCTV and IP networks. Through a mixture of self-paced learning, face-to-face theory and practical assessments at approved assessment centres (based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth), participants are required to demonstrate their knowledge of theory and practical skills. Designed to provide a career pathway for security technicians, the program is also a proactive initiative to attract and retain skilled workers capable of meeting the future needs of the security industry. Units associated with the program can be recognised as competency based units under the Australian Quality Training Framework. The program incorporates three levels of recognition: • Certified Security Technician; • Advanced Security Technician; and, • Master Security Technician.
