INTEGRATION
–THE FUTURE
John Fleming reports on the three main
technologies that form the backbone of
an integrated security solution.
In today’s world of security, integrated security
technology solutions are becoming the norm as
organisations demand seamless and expect more
cost effective solutions. Whereas in the past security
systems were often viewed as a disparate collection of
ad hoc elements, they are now viewed as an integral
and vital component of any organisation.
To meet this demand the security industry has
harnessed rapid technological developments and
convergence to provide an array of sophisticated
integrated security solutions.
Major access control and security management
solutions providers have also migrated into the Internet
Protocol (IP) world to optimise the capabilities within
these systems.

surveillance, intrusion and communications such as
intercom and mass notification technology. These
systems, which offer interoperability with technology
from several third-party vendors, can also integrate
