IT & TELECOMMUNICATIONS Awareness through: • Events that promote new technology concepts/ innovations for government The cluster runs a number of events for government stakeholders to learn about new technology innovation topics including eHealth, Mobilegov, Cloud computing etc. • Events that investigate “Lessons Learnt” from ICT deployments for government The cluster runs a number of events that enable government stakeholders to learn from their industry colleagues’ experiences. The cluster welcomes participants from all levels of government (federal, state and local). Current membership includes state and federal government agencies, multinational corporations, highly effective small businesses and research organisations such as NICTA and universities. An example of current activity is a survey and analysis of the community perception of mobile payment systems, highly relevant to local government. About Dr Dean Economou – Dean is technology Strategist at NICTA across the areas of Broadband, Digital Economy, Infrastructure, Transport and Logistics. He formerly held senior roles in CSIRO and began his career as a designer of high speed network technology. About Nicola Gracey – Nicola recently joined NICTA’s Broadband and Digital Economy team and previously held marketing roles across a number of local government portfolios, most recently at Brisbane City Council. About NICTA – NICTA pursues highimpact research excellence and, through application of this research, creates national benefit and wealth for Australia. We aim to be one of the world’s top ICT research centres. We have five laboratories around the country, and partner with an increasing number of Australia’s best universities.
