Off Train Excursions are included for Platinum Service and Gold Service guests in Katherine , offering a cruise along breathtaking Nitmiluk Gorge or an Outback cattle station expereince ( May to October only ) and in Alice Springs to explore the town . Or upgrade to a camel tracks tour on some of the friendliest camels you could meet .
The ultimate rail experience is The Ghan Expedition travelling over 4 days and 3 nights from Darwin to Adelaide . Full journeys are available between May and October and includes new journey experiences such as an incredible outback dinner under the stars at the historic Telegraph Station . On The Ghan Expedition extended time in Alice Springs allows guests to upgrade to a fly-in visit of Uluru with guided base tour and get back in time to enjoy the dining under the stars before rejoining The Ghan . It also features touring the uniquely fascinating underground mining town of Coober Pedy . It includes lunch underground in a opal mine , visit to the tourist mine and tour of the townsite – the ultimate Australian Outback experience .
On board , enjoy restaurant-quality meals , all regionally inspired and showcasing the tastes of the regions as the train travels through them .
