CKIx 2015 was my first ever International Convention! I was so excited and nervous about the adventures I would have and the people I would meet. I'm incredibly glad I got to have this experience and that I shared it with others from our amazing district. I believe one of my favorite parts of trip was LSSP, since I love doing service. Seeing us all come together to do what we truly love and feel passionate about was amazing. Through convention I met awesome people and learned so many new things. -Leah Conover Inside Story Headline My first CKI International Convention was definitely a highlight of my summer. Not only did I get to meet a ton of new people (from all over), but I also got to learn a lot about CKI and the K-family. However, my favorite part of ICON wasn’t the knowledge, but the service projects. It was amazing seeing what such a large group of people could accomplish over the span of 2 days. My team, “Wanna Do A Lot of Service” or WDALOS for short, helped clean out (and around) a building that will eventually become a thriving community center. Joking after that we were clearing “limbs” (referring to tree branches) from the worn-down space! I recommend any one who gets the opportunity to attend an ICON in the future, to go! You will not only make friends, but a difference. -Phoebe Sartori What a great week spent with some wonderful people. I had the great experience to road trip with my friends and go site seeing before ICON. We went through Atlanta, to where Martin Luther king Jr. loved, and Chattanooga where we went white water rafting. By then I was ready and pumped to reunite with my other CKI friends. The 2 highlights of my trip was being on the Indianapolis news for helping clean a playground and seeing my team facilitator from leadership academy whom I haven't seen in 2 years!!! I am sooo glad I decided to go and see how awesome CKI is! - Natalie Alvarez 2 For a group of 4 of us CKIx started on Sunday at 6 am. Each day was full of laughter and adventure and new jokes along the way. I have to say the highlight of the entire trip was when we went White Water Rafting in Tennessee and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! Right along side rafting though was both days of LSSP. Day one a group of us went to an abandoned community center to revitalize it. I was able to paint a roof while others were cleaning inside and outside, and repainting the swing set for the children. The second day of LSSP I went to Gleaners, a food bank, where my group sorted food donations. Our group sorted a record number that day WHOOP WHOOP! We sorted 32504 pounds of food which will serve 21669 people! Overall CKIx was a amazing and really made me ready for this year to come! Next year we are in Toronto, Canada can't wait to see everyone there! - Mary Stack 2
