“Then we got to a little rock face at about the sixand-a-half-mile
part of the track, and Tayla and
McKenzie fell off. Me and Becca went around,
took a different line and actually ended up doing
the same loop twice. We went the wrong way
with the sportsmen A guys. Then we came out
at the end of the first lap and Tayla and McKenzie
were in front of us. We were very confused. I just
put my head down and tried to stay with Becca
and stayed with her for a couple of laps. Then
the lap traffic got in front of us. She pulled a little
gap on me. At one stage, I was twelve seconds
down on Becca, but I just couldn’t pull her in. I
managed to grab a second, so I’m stoked.”
Jones finished third, with Gutish and Steede
rounding out the top five.
