My Custom Cart
We Make Customizing Your Golf Cart Easy
My Custom Cart started in October of 2016 basically
on a shoestring. John Buffington had to stop truck
driving due to his health and since he was hauling for
golf cart companies, learned a lot just from his stops
at the different stores. From there you can say that
he is self-taught in doing carts. We have a store in the
heart of Middleburg, FL where we do customizing,
sales, service, and parts. Soon we will be expanding
into an additional building so our sales and service
departments can grow. We have the down-home atti-
tude and our customers mean so much and we pride
ourselves on our 5-star reviews.
The majority of our work is custom builds. One
customer had us build an M & M golf cart fashioned
after the NASCAR car so it had different colors every-
where. It has caught a lot of attention. We have built
ones representing the armed forces, ones matching
RV’s and cars than ones with certain color schemes.
Another thing we do is we love helping out in the
community when we can. We are happy to say we
have been able to help a few times with our company
not being very old.
Last year we sponsored 2 golf carts. One was for the
Lowe’s Home Improvement of Middleburg where they
were raising money for the MDA. They asked us to
build a cart so they could raffle it off to a lucky winner
and the proceeds went to the local MDA chapter. The
other cart was for the local high school, Middleburg
High School football team. Our son plays for the team
and they have a great program. Middleburg is one of
the only schools in the county that does not charge
the boys for playing and they are able to do that with
fundraising. So we built a cart for Coach Karl Smeltzer
where he used it for the season then at the end of the
season, we raffled off the cart. The proceeds from the
raffle were given to the team for buying uniforms and
equipment.
This year Coach Smeltzer missed his cart so much
he wanted another one but this time to keep. So we
sponsored this year’s cart with the help of Visual FX
paint and body. Coach had an old cart that was basi-
cally a shell that had been stripped and we brought it
back to life then went crazy on it to make it something
extra special. Visual FX did custom airbrushing on the
body that had some of the trademarks of the school,
we had Lazy Life Seats + covers do custom seats with

the school logo stitched into the headrest, then we
put it all together and added some other touches. We
designed and built a special plate on the front that lit
up and added flashing lights to the top so everyone
could see the cart coming. The cart was presented to
Coach just before his only Spring football game with
the help of the team. The whole build had been kept a
surprise so Coach had no idea what to expect. He was
not only surprised but thrilled with the cart. He said
no way is anyone taking this cart from him.
We feel giving back just does so much and we love
helping out the football team when we can.
