M Then & Now 2014 feature story Photographed by Jennifer Hinds Kathȸ morgan then: MY SCHOOL: Southside High School ME THEN: I moved to Florence from Fayetteville, North Carolina, going into the 9th grade. It was a big adjustment! It was very hard until I met a new group of friends. MY STYLE: Bell bottoms, belts and platform shoes. It was a sight to see! I made sure that I kept up with the “fashion of the day.” WHAT I LOVED MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: HOW I THINK MY CLASSMATES WOULD learning about an unfamiliar town and making wise to make friends easily. I enjoyed going to football games, school activities, (and sometimes not so wise) decisions at an early age. MY MOST PRIZED ACCOMPLISHMENT OR TI- MY DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE: To finish high a school group consisting of 12 students, The Blue school, become a licensed cosmetologist and own my own salon MY FAVORITE TEACHER OR SUBJECT: Mrs. Joye, my cosmetology teacher. She really made a big impact on my future. 110 HAVE DESCRIBED ME: Shy but friendly, and able AUGUST 2017 TLE: I really liked my chorus class. I sang soprano in Notes. Believe it or not, I sang “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” as a solo in our Christmas show. That was the extent of my singing career! 1975 WHAT WAS MOST IMPORTANT TO ME: Work- ing towards graduating.
