Lux Mundi Torre del Mar are organising a coach trip to Cáceres , Mérida and Badajoz from Monday September 25 to Friday September 29 . You will stay in the 4 * Hotel Agora Cáceres for four nights on a B & B basis . This modern hotel is a 2-minute walk from the old town . You will arrive early afternoon in Cáceres and the rest of the day and the following day there will be free time to explore this city , founded by the ancient Romans with a mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture , cobbled medieval streets , fortified houses and palaces .
On the Wednesday there are guided visits to Mérida and Badajoz , Mérida founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC with its famous and still-used Teatro Romano . Also the ancient Puente Romano , a 792m bridge spanning the Río Guadiana and Badajoz situated close to the Portuguese border with Arab walls , the Alcazaba , Plaza Alta and interesting monuments .
On Thursday the group will travel to the Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe a UNESCO World Heritage Site , and afterwards to Trujillo to explore the sights and have lunch . Trujillo contains an important group of churches , castles and manor houses that are built around the Plaza Mayor square and which are declared Property of Cultural Interest .
The return journey on Friday will arrive back in Torre del Mar at approx 5pm . Tickets are € 348 pp double room , € 398 pp single room . Deposit € 100 when booking at the Centre . Individuals Fun Quiz ?
We see quiz competitions advertised throughout the year but largely in the winter months when the weather is more conducive to holding the quizzes inside . Almost all the quizzes have teams of people , but nobody has organized an individual ’ s quiz , until now ! Potters Bar in Nerja ( opposite Villa Flamenco hotel ) has a weekly quiz night every Tuesday for teams throughout the year . Even in the Tuesday night regular teams there are many individuals who may feel confident to have a go at this new format .
It will be a fun quiz with each person writing down their answers and then have their answers marked . It will not be the intention to shame any contestant as only they will know whether they ’ ve had a bad night and as quizzers , we know that can happen . So complete anonymity of scores will be upheld . Dependent on the numbers wishing to try this new format , it is intended to hold heats and then a Grand Final starting on Wednesday , October 11 and subsequent Wednesdays at 7.45pm at Potters Bar and should be finished by 10pm . The top scorers from each heat will go forward to a Grand Final on Wednesday , December 6 . The cost will be € 5 pp and all proceeds will go to CAS animal charity together with a good prize for the overall winner . Quartet con Fuoco
Ventana Abierta bring you a concert of classical music on Tuesday , September 5 at Hotel Paraíso del Mar , Nerja . It starts at 9.30pm and tickets are € 15 . The Quartet is comprised of musicians from the Philharmonic Orchestra of Málaga . In the first part of their program they will interpret Quartet No . 1 , in E minor , " De mi vida " by Bedřich Smetana , one of his most heartfelt and original scores , written in 1876 . This is a semi-biographical work that sketches moments of his life .
In the second part they will interpret the String Quartet n º 1 , in G minor , op . 27 by Edvard Grieg . A work of undeniable beauty . Its premiere took place in Cologne between 1877 / 1878 . Performing will be : Nicolae Ciocan ( Violin ); Raúl

Would you like to join a choir ? We are inviting new singers to join the local , long-established choir , Coral Coraxalia under the leadership of Eusebio Pita . Seacrest Hog Roast
Kurt and Laura at Seacrest Kennels and Cattery in Nerja will be hosting their 12th Annual Hog Roast BBQ in aid of the Costa Animal Society on Friday , September 22 at 8pm . This is always a fun evening to mark the end of summer with music provided by DJ Kapt ’ n Krap . There will be a raffle and all proceeds from the night will go directly to helping abandoned dogs and cats in our area . 60s Fundraiser
Many of you will know Pauline , who each year organises a fund raising event for the Volunteer Translators who work at the Nerja Ambulatorio and Vélez- Málaga hospital . Her next “ do ” is on Saturday October 7 , at 2pm at the Boatyard on Playa Playazo . It will be a 60s extravaganza with music from Laura Oldfield and Mike Jingle , and a raffle with great prizes .
