Wish you were here !

Like many others at this time of year , Europe ’ s police are sending holiday postcards to their friends . Unfortunately , they don ’ t have exact addresses for them , so they have decided to ask the public to help .
The friends with whom they would like renew acquaintances are dangerous criminals who are on the run . Europe ’ s police forces simply want them to know they haven ’ t been forgotten .
Holiday destinations have proven to be popular places for those anxious to avoid law enforcement officers and police hope that people who live in or visit the resorts may be able to put them back in touch for old times sake .
One such is Diego Moreno Jiménez , a 38-year-old wanted by police in Spain for drugs trafficking and who is considered to be extremely dangerous . Police say he belongs to an organised criminal group dedicated to serious trafficking , homicide and kidnapping who usually steal cocaine from other organisations using extreme violence and fire arms . The postcard addressed to him bears a picture of a sunny beach and sparkling blue sea , with the friendly message , “ Dear Diego , the beaches of Spain are missing you . Please come to visit us soon . We ’ ll be waiting for you .”
The postcards from 21 different countries make up this summer ’ s campaign by the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams ( ENFAST ) and Europol who hope the public will be able to pinpoint the whereabouts of suspects whose locations have not been determined by traditional investigative measures . Investigators say they are usually found hiding in a different country from where the crime was committed .
Since the launch of the Europe ’ s Most Wanted website early last year , 36 featured fugitives have been arrested , at least 11 of whom were as a direct result of information from members of the public , plus four more who handed themselves in after their photos appeared .
The postcards and photos of the suspects can be viewed at www . eumostwanted . eu . Anyone who can provide information about the whereabouts of any of them should contact the Local or National Police who will forward it to Europol .

Islamophobia enquiry in Málaga

National Police in Málaga have been asked to investigate a possible case of Islamophobia in the city . The request came from the prosecutor who has received a formal complaint about the incident which is reported to have happened one evening last month . The woman at the centre of the incident said she was house-hunting in the 25 años de Paz district when she was surrounded by four men who began to jostle , threaten and insult her . One of the attackers snatched the veil she was wearing which caused her pain because it was being held on by clips . Their hostility reportedly increased when she pointed out that she is
Spanish , at which point one of the men produced a lighter and threatened to burn her . She said they only backed off when a couple with a baby approached the area .
Data from the Civic Platform against Islamophobia suggests that the number of complaints made about similar incidents last year in Spain rose by 35 per cent , compared with 2015 . The group says the largest numbers were recorded in Madrid , Barcelona and Valencia regions and were mainly in the form of cyber-Islamophobia , gender Islamophobia and attacks against mosques .
