48 CAS news Dog Report In March a litter of five puppies, Benji, Betty, Bindi, Bobby and Buddy, were abandoned in a box. (Don’t ask.) The two happiest pups in the world, Buddy and Bindi, were adopted together last month by a nice young British couple who live in the Nerja campo. Little Bobby was taken in by a fosterer who later decided to keep him permanently. This leaves Benji and Betty at Seacrest Kennels. They can be a bit shy around new people but each one is a very sweet and cuddly youngster who would make a lovely addition to any family. Benji Scrappy The €3 entrance fee and all raffle proceeds go directly to CAS. Food and drink are available at the bar. Advance booking is recommended by calling Mark at 635 369 673. Easter Monday afternoon tea Betty The Costa Animal Society would like to thank Vera and the supporters who helped put on a fantastic afternoon tea on Easter Monday. The event was a lovely garden party with beautiful spring weather, delicious cakes, scones and sandwiches. All the fare was prepared and donated by volunteers, and €700 was raised making several puppies very happy. CAS Shop News What better way to help CAS than to help yourself. The restaurant is located on the right side of the main road as you enter the hamlet of Maro from Nerja. It is always a difficult balancing act as more urgent cases are brought to our attention. The only way to make room for new rescues is for CAS to find either foster places or permanent homes for the puppies in kennels. Please contact us if you would like to adopt or become a fosterer. Punta Lara Quiz CAS BBQ in Maro Another set of pups that were rescued from the pound this past spring are Adam, Agatha and Aurora. Despite lots of interest from our Nordic sister charities and Adam being provisionally reserved by a family in Norway, this trio is still looking for their forever homes. Unfortunately, the waifs from the recent puppy season are still occupying many of the spots in kennels which the Costa Animal Society (CAS) uses to take in new rescues. Last minute: Additionally, four other puppies, Scrappy, Munch, Brownie and Spot were abandoned and taken in by CAS. They are four months old, very sweet and playful and get on well with other dogs. Please note: the CAS shop will be closed on Monday 1 (May Day) and Monday 15 (Romeria de San Isidro). Could you help CAS? The Costa Animal Society is always in need of more volunteer helpers in a number of areas, so if you have spare time to fill, please make contact!
