Soltalk 2018 August 2017 - Page 8

Comment Welcome to the August edition of SolTalk, we hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather! I am thinking of opening one here in Nerja - how hard can it be? You only need premises, beds, and a single member of staff to do the waking up, changing the sheets and collecting the money! I could even sleep while I worked setting an alarm for five minutes before the next customer needed to be woken. It reminds me of the job I dreamed of as a child, to be paid to sleep all day in the shop window of a bed shop! Lazy? Me? Well August is definitely an exciting month to be in Nerja, not least because the majority of people in the town this month are on holiday and feeling relaxed. There is entertainment in Nerja most evenings in the Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos (sounds so much nicer than Crab Factory Plaza) see details on page 23. Celebrations all round at Vinoleto Bar in Calle Antonio Millón where the road has now been completed after a couple of months of dust, dirt and holes in the road. An interesting choice from the designers however are patches of “astro turf” between and around the trees, as well as weird kerb stones that are just waiting to trip people up. We hope all the local dogs don’t make them regret their choice of flooring and hope you all stay safe as you walk along the road. It does look very nice though. Up the road to Frigiliana and you can visit the Festival of Three Cultures - see more details in Smalltalk on page 22. At the end of the month La Vuelta, Spain’s annual cycling spectacular, will be coming through Nerja on the way to Antequera, see our feature on page 36, definitely one to put in the diary! And any day of the month you could visit the newly opened botanical gardens at the Nerja Caves complex in Maro. See the News on page 16 for more information. I read with interest that Spain’s first “nap bar” has opened in Ma
