for Santa Claus , we finally fell asleep staring at the clock wishing it was sunrise already . After a short night ’ s sleep , it was finally time . Capt Ty and I rushed down to a boat that barely fit the both of us .
Our quest across the pond left us feeling like we were in the Gulf of Mexico , considering the boat was only powered by a 30lb thrust trolling motor . What we saw that day was nothing short of spectacular . Bass after bass all morning , only to be capped off with Capt Ty ' s monster around 10am which was caught on a " Shrimp Creole "
Matrix Shad . It was a bass of a lifetime and a good note for us to leave on and rush back to opening day for ICAST 2016 , which we attended late and smelly .
We had a great time our first day at the show meeting many great people in the fishing industry , but couldn ' t get the thoughts of those monster bass out of our heads . Finally 6 pm came , and show hours closed . We raced back to the lake just dodging another thunderstorm . We were finally able to see what the Matrix Mullet would call up during sunset hours . After just a few short casts and walking the dog with the Matrix Mullet , explosion number one occurred . It looked like a bomb going off in the water , but the big girl missed it on her first shot . Due to super sharp hooks , we snagged her on her second slap . After a solid minute or two of fighting with the beast , another trophy bass was landed on yet another Matrix product . These massive explosions lasted all evening into the moonlight hours . Bass of three , four , and five-plus pounds came flying into the 8 ' Bass Raider one after another , and this trend lasted all week . Needless to say , it was hard to keep us at our booth at ICAST all week with these monster bass on our minds while we showcased our entire Matrix Line .
What a fantastic week Capt Ty and I had ! We saw fishing legends everyday at ICAST and felt like we were fishing the Bassmaster Classic in the evenings while fishing out of a $ 150 boat . I strongly suggest to anyone who ever has the opportunity to attend ICAST not to miss out . Make sure to bring a rod and reel , and don ' t leave home without a box full of Matrix supplies .
