If music be the food of love,

play on...

This is the year for baking over on Channel 4 with its gutsy acquisition of The Great British Bake Off coming soon, ahead of this we saw a new series titled Extreme Cake Makers hit our screens. So, why exactly are we making your mouths water with cake talk in a music magazine? Well, creativity is not just for arts.

In the daytime programme, bakers across the UK showed off their skills in the delicious art form. From a life-size Shetland pony to a Wallace & Gromit working cake factory cake. Two very cool works that caught my attention were also musically inclined.

One being a seemingly realistic Victoria sponge guitar cake by Eloise which musician Antonio Lulic was actually able to plug in and play.

"My favourite cake commission has to be the working guitar cake I made. Just the fact that it could be played was mind blowing to watch, even when I was the one that made it! I also loved the process of air brushing the paintwork." Eloise, The Gourmet Cupcake Company

The second interesting piece was a salted caramel and passion fruit & mango African drum cake made for Blackmale Beats by Nastassja which had the label's fist logo punching through.

"Every cake is my favourite cake when I’ve done it – that’s the problem! Each cake is very exciting because it’s something different from the last one. Even though I have an idea of the outcome, I usually surprise myself!" Nastassja, Indulgent Sugar Plum
