Initiate the momentum
A prelude to Por Lwi by Light has been organised on the 13th of November, a Saturday afternoon spent at Tank Wen Street at La Butte. A stage was set up with pallets as well as the sound system to give room for musical expression. I arrived one hour after the program kicked off and could say that it was in full swing. There was not much people attending, nevertheless those being here were enjoying the moment. There was no set schedule or timing as those who wanted to perform could do so at any time.
It was a moment full of simplicity and authenticity. The main objective of this gathering is to rally people to the neighbourhood values while giving the opportunity for talents to express. Some times back La Butte was known as a place to be for musical expression. On Sundays, artists performed in the kiosk at Marie Reine de La Paix.
The very essence of this gathering is relinking people by all means. To set a momentum so that there is less individualism and more sharing. It is also a way to show the locals that they can create such events and that with little resources we can end up sharing a great feel.
We can say that the main goal has been achieved and the event was a success. The teenagers have asked the event coordinators to forecast identical events throughout next year. So, save the date! Musical day 2017 at La Butte!
