#FinkFactor

The musical embrace has various shades for Jason. He is involved in two musical bands: Fink Factor and Maron’er. He was introduced to the group Fink Factor and was asked to join for a show on one Christmas Eve. The Casela Mizik held on the 2nd of July was an opportunity to see the group and Jason perform. The musicians in Fink factor are seasoned, full of resources and experience which is being cascaded down to him. This band experience gave Jason the opportunity to really get into the funk / soul / jazz style. He is taking up the challenges which are presented to him and helping him to grow, not only as a performer but, on some personal attributes as well. The groovy sound they have is awesome. I enjoyed every piece of this show and look forward for another live funky music with Fink Factor.

#Maron’er

Maron’er is a band concept with a mix of all influences of every member to get to that Mauritian Jazzy African sound. When talking about what characterises most Maron’er; it is all the joy which is communicated when they are playing. The positive response they get from the public is enticing and moving the group to new heights. Again, Jason insists on the managerial concept as he believes that when every member rallies to the fundamentals of a group, it is then that it is able to move on. The main core value of Maron’er is commitment. When the commitment is deep-rooted; whatever it takes the group will be growing. Maron’er is viewed as a whole whenever they are on stage. When it happens that only part of the team is showing up, they are presented as the members of Maron’er; not Maron’er. This difference is emphasized by Jason. 2016 will be the upcoming of the first album of Maron’er.

This encounter has sparked lots of ideas and galvanised the belief that the Mauritian artist is willing to expose and prove right his creation. Jason Lily is a young man full of energy, resources and ideas, who will continue to contribute to the Mauritian cultural scene. I thank him for his availability and willingness to complete this interview. There is still lots to write about Jason, for all his future artistic endeavours. Nou zwenn kamwad...
