Markus displayed a keen social conscience and made an invaluable contribution to the overall group
The Class 11 Play is a vital part of the Waldorf Curriculum . In this enterprise students are required to choose a play and fulfill all aspects of staging this production , i . e . costume design , set design and building , financing , directing , marketing , etc .
Markus ’ s class decided to explore experiential theatre in which they wrote their own play “ Holmes and the Hellenic Homicide ”. Markus undertook a very challenging leading role and delivered a most accomplished performance . These plays are staged not only for the school community , but also for the public . A further aspect of the Class 11 Curriculum is the Class 11 Project , through which the school provides students with the opportunity to explore a subject or life path in which they are interested .
This is documented in a book which the students make themselves . As with the Class 11 play , students are further required to present their projects to the public , in a speech and display . For his Class 11 project Markus deepened his love of the culinary arts . He focused in depth on the history of food , food trends and diets around the world . He undertook a ten-week culinary course at the Stains Culinary school in Pretoria , South Africa . We applaud Markus for the penetration of his topic and his excellent presentation . Markus is truly a student of whom Waldorf education can be proud . He is a most accomplished young gentleman and is an established member of our community .
He has an excellent relationship with his peers and teachers and is a well-loved member of his class . Any institution , through which Markus chooses to pursue his tertiary education , will be fortunate indeed . He goes with our deepest blessings for his future endeavors .
