Pretoria, the City of Tshwane, serves as the executive and administrative capital of South
Africa. It has a natural beauty and charm and the slow pace of life is regarded as a bonus by

Be sure to wander through the Pretoria Botanical Gardens, especially during spring when the
entire City is in bloom. The City centre boasts several modern shopping malls, art galleries

Constitution Hill
Constitution Hill is the home of the Constitutional Court, South Africa’s highest court and
Custodian of the Constitution. It is a symbol of South Africa’s unique and triumphant
democracy.
Built on a hill overlooking central Johannesburg, here you can view and learn about the
incredible story of South Africa’s turbulent past and its extraordinary transition to modernday democracy.
The Constitutional Court is partially built on the site of the notorious Number 4 Prison
where awaiting trial prisoners were kept during the struggle against apartheid. Some
famous prisoners include Mahatma Gandhi and President Nelson Mandela.
Exhibitions and guided tours offer visitors an inter-active experience whilst exploring this
historical landmark.
