Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. It is bordered by South Africa to the
south, Botswana to the southwest, Zambia to the northwest and Mozambique to the east. The capital is Harare. Victoria
Falls, one of the world's biggest and most spectacular waterfalls, is located in the northwest region on the Zambezi river.
The country has 16 official languages, with English, Shona and Ndebele being most commonly spoken.
The currency used by visitors is the United States Dollars and South African Rand. In Victoria Falls the Botswana Pula may
also be traded. It is preferable to use US Dollars in cash as limited International Credit Card are accepted. VISA is the only
card that is accepted at Bank ATM’s with a maximum withdrawal per day of US$500. Travelers cheques are not accepted.
Zimbabwe enjoys a lovely temperate climate. The rains fall from December until March. The nights in June, July and August
are cool and the days are still clear and warm. This is 'peak season‘ in Zimbabwe when the days are cloudless and animal
sightings are good. September and October are the hottest months in Zimbabwe when the wildlife concentrates around
limited water sources.
In Zimbabwe the standard voltage is 240 V. The power sockets that are used are of type D / G.
The main airports are Harare International Airport, Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport and Victoria Falls Airport.
