Chobe National Park
The Chobe National Park is a wildlife paradise situated along the magnificent Chobe River.
Whether arriving by air or road, the first glimpse of the river is always breath taking.
Interesting twists and turns in the river create a beautiful sight. The Chobe supports a rich
diversity and concentration of wildlife unparalleled anywhere else in the country. The
central point of arrival and departure is the town of Kasane.
The most accessible and frequently visited part of Botswana’s big game reserves is the
Chobe River. On a safari drive, or water safari, you may see hundreds of elephant . Other
wildlife include various species of antelope, giraffe and baboons. You may even spot a
pride of lions close to the water or a shy leopard resting in a tree.
The Chobe River rises in the northern Angolan highlands, and travels an enormous distance
before it reaches Botswana. Together with the Okavango and Zambezi rivers, it carries more
water than all other rivers in Southern Africa and it is a magnificent sight to see.
Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is one of the most sought after wilderness destinations in the world. It
is the largest intact inland delta in the world offering a truly unique and enchanting African
experience. Few other reserves in Africa can match the excitement of big game viewing, the
supreme tranquillity and serenity of an untouched delta, and spectacular scenes of
extraordinary natural beauty.
In the Delta you will find a combination of wet land dry land, various waterways, palmfringed islands and wooded areas . Here, you will experience close encounters with the
rich diversity of wildlife. The three main geographical areas that form the Okavango Delta
include the Panhandle, the Delta and Dryland. Each area is unique and collectively they
contribute to the beauty and intrigue of the Delta experience.
Activities to the traveller include game viewing, bird viewing and exploring the waters of the
Delta on a mokoro, a traditional boat carved from a solid piece of wood. You may even
consider taking a helicopter ride to view the Delta in its entirety.
Moremi Game Reserve
The Moremi Game Reserve has been voted the ‘best game reserve in Africa’ by the
prestigious African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA).
Moremi is the first reserve in Africa that was established by local residents, motivated by
their concerns of the rapid depletion of wildlife in their ancestral lands, due to uncontrolled
hunting and cattle encroachment. It is also the only officially protected area of the Okavango
Delta.
Moremi Game Reserve offers the most spectacular game viewing and bird watching
opportunities, including sightings of antelope, giraffe and zebra, lions, leopard and hyenas.
Over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered, can be seen in the
Reserve. Both Black and White Rhino have recently been re-introduced, now making the
reserve a Big Five destination.
