South Africa Situated at the southern tip of Africa, South Africa is 1 233 404kmĀ² in size and is fringed by 3 000km of coastline from the Indian Ocean in the east to the Atlantic Ocean in the west. The country is bordered by Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, and encloses two independent mountain kingdoms of Lesotho and Swaziland. There are nine provinces in South Africa namely: Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, North West and Western Cape. Since the first post-apartheid elections in 1994, South Africa has enjoyed a democratic government. The dynamic Constitution is an example to the world and enshrines a wide range of human rights, protected by an independent judiciary.
