Properly trained X-Ray operators are one layer of security
that is critical in the protection of aircraft in our skies.

As civil aviation organizations in Africa con-
tinue to improve operations and their level of
compliance ambition expands, there is one
critical area which remains deficient through-
out much of the Continent.
Until it is addressed, direct flights back to the
United States from the Continent elusive.
With current aviation security concerns centered
on preventing acts of terrorism, baggage screen-
ing procedures play an important role in any civil
aviation authority’s airport security plan.
In much of Africa, this skill-set is under provided.
Proper training and mandatory certification in
X-Ray screening seems to have evaded many
