Alison shares some World LP Gas tips for creating value for members:

A multi-level benefit structure to serve all sizes of member, from large multi-nationals to NGOs, whether on a global or country level.

Encourage members to be active, attend events and contribute to working groups – the more members put into the association the more they will get out of it.

Whilst not every activity on offer will be relevant to every member, try to ensure that every member will have an interest in at least one activity.

Organise training and educational seminars at country and regional level, for those who are not able to travel to the World Forum. Focusing on national and regional issues, the most recent regional events World LP Gas organised were in Colombia in January, in India, Kenya and the USA.

A comprehensive communications strategy with a suite of newsletters including one newsletter dedicated to members to encourage a sense of pride in membership.

Working with members to involve them in association strategy. World LP Gas has a three year strategic plan which all members have the opportunity to have a voice in.

Face-to-face meetings with members in individual countries to discuss their needs. For World LP gas this means extensive travel for the management team.

Having a series of working groups comprising members who contribute to key industry reports and guidelines concerning all aspects of the LP Gas industry.
