Gallery Published by Mash Media Second Floor Apple Market House 17 Union Street Kingston Upon Thames KT1 1RR 18: Three hundred and fifty attendees were at the KIA Oval on 12 October for the 2018 Association Excellence Awards, and witnessed recognition across 16 categories. Recognising quality The Association Excellence Awards 2018 was a stunning event held recently in stunning surrounds – the KIA Oval, home of Surrey County Cricket Club. All credit to the organisers, GCN Events, for going in to bat to recognise excellence in the sector and 16 categories were strongly contested, with worthy winners and worthy runners-up. As a face in the crowd of some 350 attendees, it was uplifting to see recognition for associations dealing with professional communities ranging from rugby to quarrying and much in between. It is also an event I’ve been privileged to see grow each year and the networking, this time round on The Corinthian Roof Terrace, is a real opportunity for people from disparate sectors to come together to compare their experiences of running and making a success of their associations and their conferences. See p18 for more on the AEAs. Another champion, driving best practice is ABPCO, which met in Edinburgh in full collaborative mode recently. There are further insights to recommend from Joint Chair Kate Sargent and from Heather Lishman in this issue.
