KINGDOM INITIATIVES Want to do something for God? Then you need good favour and enablement from heaven. Contemplate His Word, wait upon him and Let your shoulders relax. Secondly, there are things that are simply seasonal. You can’t harvest crops in the winter, unless, of course, they are winter crops. Experienced leaders know there is seasonal fruitfulness that is often followed by seasons of pruning. Then there are the ‘now’s the time projects’; it’s just simply the right time to do certain things. Good leaders and Spirit led congregations have a sense that there are spiritual traffic lights that control the flow of initiatives in their church. Now, before you think that you can simply ‘go bush’ and give up because you don’t know what to do, there are things that can be done in any season, like faithfully preaching the Gospel. There is the enduring need to prepare and preach sound doctrine. There is fruitful activity that the church need not think too much about; just do it! Do it as a disciplined servant of the Lord. I remember Dr T. L. Osborn once saying “Some Christians spend half their lives worrying about what the will of God is and the other half worrying about whether they have achieved it. Stop it! Just get out there and preach the gospel!” In an age where good ideas are prolific, we must remember that the ‘Kingdom of God’ is called such because it has a King, and where He rules, His Kingdom is established. The Apostle comments; “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever!” (Romans 11:36 KJV). Kingdom Initiatives are all about God. Want to do something for God? Then you need good favour and enablement from heaven. Contemplate His Word, wait upon him and Let your shoulders relax. Take a long walk and let God speak to you. Breathe God’s air and let Him say “Kia Ora”, (Life to you). As a leader, I like to work with people who are good at flowing in Kingdom initiatives. We have an Executive team that has been a source of great strength to me as they initiate in the areas of their responsibilities and in the general oversight of our national Movement. Often my role has been to simply be part of the process as they get inspired from the Lord. For many years I have seen that a leader need not be the sole initiator. He can surround himself with people whose spiritual maturity brings vision and insight in a way that creates a catalyst for a wide variety of initiatives. Finally, our movement exists only because men and women of God are able to add their Kingdom initiatives into an association of like-minded servants. Servants, who through faith and patience are inheriting and making real the great promises of God. As an Executive team, we can only do so much to encourage people to initiate new things for God. The great strength of our Movement has always been that individuals carry out ministries for God for which they have received guidance from our great King!! ISSUE #2 JULY 2016 | 9
