Asian LEADER 21
15 Jan - 28 Jan 2014
Miss British Asian
2014 contender,
Christina Modhvadia
C
hristina Modhvadia a 23 year
old graduate in psychology is
preparing herself as a finalist
contestant for the Miss British Asian
2014.
The Midland based model from a small
town called Loughborough has always
been a quite shy girl the youngest out
of the four siblings. Her shy personality
meant she was not very confident
amongst a large audience but knew she
had to overcome this to fulfil her goals
in life. As far as she can remember as a
child she grew up watching Bollywood
and reading the Asian magazines from
then her interest in modelling and acting
grew. Since graduating in summer 2013
from Nottingham University she took
the leap to embark on her childhood
dreams to turn them into reality. While
it may not have been long her popularity
grew and she has already created a storm
in the Asian modelling industry having
already appeared on several page spreads
in numerous leading Asian wedding
magazines sold nationally and then going
on to embarking on several high profile
promotional opportunities as well as
taking on the catwalk runway.
Christina believes being a model has
helped her develop confidence and selfbelief within herself to take on challenges
and obstacles in life. “I believe in the
importance that one must believe in
themselves to succeed in personal goals
in life” therefore this will be her first time
taking part in a beauty pageant. Miss
British Asian 2014 is the biggest beauty
pageant of its kind with a twist, vastly
evolving the face of the industry with its
modern outlook on a time old tradition
that is taken part in all over the world
in many different countries. It is one of
very few events that bring all walks of life
together to celebrate culture, differences,
traditions and people.”
Christina commented “I would love to
have the opportunity to be an inspiration
to other girls and be able to take on the
opportunity to be a great role model
myself”. The title Miss British Asian will
enable her to go on to represent and to
be a role model for other young girls.
“With this responsibility I would like to
use my title to promote and help issues
regarding the Asian community and
help to bring awareness to the cultural
issues surrounding it. I personally believe
in and enjoy helping people, as seeing
others happy gives me an inner sense of
peace and positivity therefore I would
love to use my title to make a difference
to those that I can”. Furthermore she
would then like to go on to be a role
model to girls to give them faith within
themselves that “even shy girls like
myself from small towns can fulfil their
dreams if they believe in themselves” She
would then like to go on to pursue further
in both modelling and acting and most
importantly make her mother proud.
The prestigious event Miss British
Asian 2014 will be held on Saturday 5th
April 2014 followed by an after party till
3am.
