1 Million kilos of flour
distributed inside Syria
Case studies from inside Syria –
December 2013
6 Year old Saddam
Whilst assisting Syrian refugees, we met a 6 year old boy called
Saddam in a Rehabilitation centre. He sustained a horrific injury
on his back due to heavy bombing and shelling’s and is now paralysed. His elder brother aged 14 had to carry Saddam from his
home in Homs to the border of Turkey, leaving totally empty handed with no knowledge of the whereabouts of his parents. Saddam is
now totally bed-bound inside Turkey being looked after by his elder
brother. Although he is now both mother and father to Saddam
however finds it very difficult and painful to watch his brother crying out “Ummi Ummi” wanting his mother but no idea where she is.

Al-Imdaad Foundation team travelled inside Syria, the weather
was extremely cold and below freezing conditions. Whilst transporting refugees from tents and camps into their new container homes,
we witnessed refugees with no suitable footwear and astonishingly
walking in the snow barefoot. Upon questioning, they replied yes
it’s bitterly cold, but unfortunately we don’t have anything to wear.
Mainly children and women are suffering the most with lack of basic necessities which has enabled Al-Imdaad Foundation to carry
out an urgent winter warmth appeal which will include blanket,
hat, scarf and footwear at £25 per pack.
AbuBakr in rehabilitation
42 year old AbuBakr from Idlib was caught up in the conflict and
currently in a rehabilitation clinic on the border inside Turkey. Trying to protect his family, he sustained injury in his back and in front
of his own very eyes witnessed his family brutally murdered. Whilst
in agony he is relating this incident to us with tears rolling down.
He said he cannot sleep at night as the trauma is still fresh with
him. Due to his horrific injuries he now cannot walk properly and
is currently being treated at the rehabilitation centre with full support from Al-Imdaad Foundation UK.
