Emcee: Rick Quan
Rick Quan is a two-time Emmy award winner and the first Chinese American
television sportscaster in the country. He currently works part-time at ABC7
San Francisco as a fill-in sports anchor and as the field reporter for the
station’s “After the Game” college football show. Before then he worked at the
CBS affiliate in San Francisco. Rick has been recognized for his work by the
Associated Press, the Radio TV News Directors Association, and the Peninsula
Press Club.

Rick also runs his own video production company and has produced videos for
the Chinese Historical Society, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation,
and McDonald’s. He will soon be releasing a documentary on the life of
legendary dancer Dorothy Toy Fong. He also operates asianamericansports.
com, a website devoted to profiling Asian American athletes.
Rick has always believed it’s important to be active in the community. He
has emceed and worked with dozens of Bay area organizations. In 2000, the
Northern California Arthritis Foundation named him Media Person of the year,
in 2008, the Chinese American Political Association presented him with their
Community Achievement Award and in 2013, the Organization of Chinese
Americans recognized him for being a pioneer in the broadcasting field.

Emcee: Kathy Park
Kathy Park is a weekend evening anchor and general assignment reporter for
KCRA 3 in Sacramento. Since arriving to the Golden State in July 2014, she has
covered major breaking news stories both in the field and on the anchor desk,
including the King fire and the Napa earthquake.

Before moving west, Kathy was based in our nation’s capital at WJLA/
NewsChannel 8. During her time there, she reported on many high-profile
events, including both inaugurations for President Barack Obama, the Navy
Yard shooting, and the blizzard of 2010, which earned her an Emmy nomination.
Kathy started her career in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia at
WCYB/Fox Tri-Cities. She is a native of the DC-Metro region, and graduated
cum laude from the University of Maryland. As an undergrad, she reported for
the school’s award-winning Capital News Service.
One of her first opportunities in a local newsroom was at the CBS affiliate in
Phoenix, where she worked as a Meredith-Cronkite fellow.
Outside of work, Kathy enjoys volunteering and is an active member of the
Asian American Journalists Association. She is excited to call Sacramento her
new home, and loves exploring the area — especially anywhere near the water.
