Asia-Pacific Broadcasting (APB) BroadcastAsia2017 Show Daily - Day 2 | Page 21

BROADCASTASIA2017 SHOWDAILY 21 21 24 May 2017 G&D: KVM and broadcast go hand-in-hand As the broadcast industry continues to en- ter an era of IT and IP, keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) technology will continue to grow in prominence because of its ability to provide flexibility in systems control and operation, says Jochen Bauer, marketing director, Guntermann & Drunck (G&D). This is why the German company is exci- ted to be back at BroadcastAsia to showcase its range of KVM solutions to broadcasters in the region who are moving beyond tradi- tional broadcast systems. At booth 4R2-05, one of the company’s key highlights is the DP-Vision-IP KVM extender. Comprising a transmitter and a receiver, DP-Vision-IP supports DisplayPort video resolutions up to 2560x1600 at 60Hz or 3840x2160 at 30Hz, and is able to be integrated with other G&D systems. Supporting broadcast, control and auto- mation systems, the DP-Vision-IP offers “unlimited transmission distance”, with up to 100m between two active network com- ponents. The KVM extender also enables automatic video optimisation for effects such as tearing, jerking, latency and hard-eye co- ordination, while transmission is compressed, visually lossless, pixel-perfect and with ideal hand-eye coordination. While there may not be many 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) or 8K deployments in Asia-Pacific, the interest to find out more about these technologies is emerging from countries such as Japan and South Korea, notes Bauer. Therefore, even if you are not ready to offer 4K/UHD or 8K services, Bauer invites visitors to check out the company’s Display- Port KVM extender — the DP1.2-VisionXG. Equipped with the ability to extend com- puter signals via fibre optics over distances up to 10,000m, the DP1.2-VisionXG features support for 4K/UHD resolutions at 60Hz. It also provides the delivery of 8K resolutions at 30Hz using two video channels, and at 60Hz using four video channels. The system consists of a computer module (transmitter) and a user module (receiver), and in order to allow users to achieve “perfect hand-eye coordination”, the transmission of high-resolution DisplayPort video signals is uncompressed, pixel-perfect and lossless, according to G&D. The dedicated transmission via optical fibres offers sufficient bandwidth for an un- compressed and pixel-perfect transmission of 4K/UHD and 8K videos at 60Hz, as well as for keyboard/mouse, RS232, USB2.0 and audio signals, the company maintains. The DP1.2-VisionXG also offers features such as a screen-freeze function, a monitor- ing function, a redundant power supply, SNMP (Simple Network Management Pro- tocol), and two network ports. It also uti- lises the advantages offered by G&D’s HDIP compression technology, which allows the lossless transmission of video signals with a resolution of 4K/UHD at 60Hz. With HDIP, the DP1.2-VisionXG is able to extend computer signals either via fibre optics up to 10,000m or via CAT cables up to 140m. “Asia is growing to be a key market for us as we see more demand for KVM in the region, and we are confident that BroadcastAsia2017 will be a successful show for us once again,” Bauer concludes.
