10 BROADCASTASIA2017 SHOWDAILY 10 24 May 2017 Dell EMC empowers the creation, management and delivery of content As new media technologies such as 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) are being introduced or planned in Asia, underlying storage infrastructures must effectively scale to keep up with expanding performance re- quirements. The broadcast and media in- dustries are also under pressure to manage the exponential growth of content, demand for multi-platform content delivery, rigorous global production schedules and transition to all-IP media operations. According to Dell EMC, these are the reasons that have com- pelled the company to bring a “comprehensive suite” of storage solutions to BroadcastAsia2017, the highlight of which is a new genera- tion of Isilon scale-out NAS systems based on an “Infinity” architecture. The new generation of Isilon systems include all-flash, hybrid and archive configurations that allow enterprise customers to take on a wide range of new, more Dell’s Charles Sevior: We are excited to showcase our high-performing IT foundation for media and entertainment workflows so that our customers can create, manage and deliver their best work. demanding unstructured data applications; achieve faster busi- ness outcomes; store, manage and protect “massively large” data sets with ease; and gain new levels of efficiency, says Manuvir Das, SVP and GM, Unstructured Data Stor- age at Dell EMC. The availability of these new systems could not have come at a better time, Das adds, saying: “As the digital economy extends its reach, an IT strategy is quickly becoming a critical advantage (or disadvantage) for businesses. “The need to support the un- constrained scale and massive performance requirements of powerful applications of today and tomorrow is putting IT organisa- tions everywhere under pressure.” With the “Infinity” architecture, new levels of performance and scalability are brought to the Isilon platform, which can now deliver up to 6x the IOPs, 11x the throughput and 2x the capacity of its predeces- sor. It also enables Isilon to provide 9x the IOPs, 18x the throughput and 21x the capacity of compet- ing solutions in the market, says Dell EMC. This new generation of Isilon systems is powered by the Isilon OneFS operating system, which of- fers “high storage efficiency, robust data protection and strong data management capabilities.” The new systems can also be integrated with customers’ existing Isilon clusters, or deployed as a new cluster. Customers can choose from the following configurations: n All-flash, which offers the Isilon F800, designed for the most demanding and unstructrued data applications and workflows. n Hybrid, which offers the Isilon H600, Isilon H500 and Isilon H400 hybrid storage platforms. These systems deliver up to 120k IOPs, 3Gbps-12Gbps bandwidth and up to 480TB capacity per chassis. n Archive, which offers the Isi- lon A200 and Isilon A2000 archive systems, designed to address the growing need for efficient and secure long-term data retention by providing options for both active and deep archive storage. At booth 42Q-05, Dell EMC is also highlighting its range of Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) solu- tions, while a joint workshop with Grass Valley will also be held today at 11.30am at meeting room 311.
