Experience the new and improved
DaVinci Resolve
Blackmagic Design is inviting visi-
tors to have a hands-on experience
of DaVinci Resolve 14, which the
company has described as the
“biggest release in the history of
the product”.
One of the most recognisable
non-linear editing and colour
correction systems in the market,
DaVinci Resolve, with new func-
tionalities, will “break through the
stagnant toolsets used in post pro-
duction”, says Blackmagic Design.
New features include up to
10x performance improvement, a
whole new audio post-production
suite with Fairlight audio built into
DaVinci Resolve, and multi-user
collaboration tools that let multiple
users edit, colour and mix audio
from multiple systems, all in the
same project at the same time.
Other highlights at booth
6S2-01 include the Blackmagic
Web Presenter, which presents the
“fastest and easiest” way to get
high-quality video directly on the
Web for a new generation of Web
broadcasting. Designed to replace
expensive and hard-to-set-up
dedicated streaming encoders, the
Blackmagic Web Presenter allows
users to use professional cam-
eras to stream high-quality video
through their favourite software
and websites.
Also new is the HyperDeck
Studio Mini, a “revolutionary new
professional deck that is small-
er and more versatile than any
other deck in the world”, describes
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic
Design.
“It’s so exciting because it has

the same powerful features as a
full-sized broadcast deck. It records
to incredibly small and affordable
SD cards, and it has a modular
design that lets customers create
their own custom deck based on
their needs!” he adds.
For camera enthusiasts,
Blackmagic Design is offering the
URSA Mini Pro 4.6K, which features
a custom 4.6K image sensor that
captures up to 4608x2592 pixels
with 15 stops of dynamic range
and a super wide colour gamut.
URSA Mini Pro, says Blackmagic
Design, is ideal for everything from
standard Rec.709 broadcast HD to
the latest Rec.2020 high dynamic
range digital film production ITU

SGL presents integrated cloud archiving and new FlashNet toolset
The new version of SGL’s FlashNet
Infinity system now includes sup-
port for integrated Amazon cloud
archiving, S3-based object storage-
based private cloud archiving and
Sony’s Ci Media Cloud Platform.
Central to SGL’s support for
public and private cloud is the
ability to manage and monitor
the buckets and tiers into which
assets can be stored, the company
informs.
FlashNet’s lifecycle rules engine
easily moves assets between vari-
ous platforms and storage areas,
treating each as simply another
storage destination. In addition,
FlashNet receives notifications
about the arrival of assets into the

cloud archive from other sources,
along with information regarding
the removal or deletion of assets
within the archive using third-party
tools. This enables FlashNet to offer
effective management of cloud-
based archival storage regardless
of the workflows in use.
Throughout the show, SGL is
also demonstrating at booth 6J2-
03 the latest developments to its
FlashNet Infinity archive control
centre. Providing media companies
with a dashboard that simplifies the
management of media archives,
Infinity delivers a toolset for archive
and restore functionality, system
health, monitoring, analysis and
more.
New features include: A naviga-
tor tool to explore the entire set
of archived assets in their original
folder format; support for watch
folder projects; advanced metadata
support; and capacity analysis. The
FlashNet upgrade is available free
to all SGL FlashNet users covered
by a current support contract who
are running FlashNet 6.7 or later.
SGL is also fully integrated
with Sony’s Optical Disk Archive
System (ODS) version 2. The inte-
gration gives SGL users access to
a greater choice of storage devices
in DR, production, news and sports
workflows.
SGL’s FlashNet allows Sony’s
ODS users to store valuable media
safely with ease. With SGL’s experi-
ence of managing multiple storage
devices within production, news
and sports, Sony’s ODS can sit any-
where within a workflow, not simply
as an “end of process” archive.
