One of the most recognisable non-linear editing and colour correction systems in the market, DaVinci Resolve, with new func- tionalities, will “break through the stagnant toolsets used in post pro- duction”, says Blackmagic Design. New features include up to 10x performance improvement, a whole new audio post-production suite with Fairlight audio built into DaVinci Resolve, and multi-user collaboration tools that let multiple users edit, colour and mix audio from multiple systems, all in the same project at the same time. Other highlights at booth 6S2-01 include the Blackmagic Web Presenter, which presents the “fastest and easiest” way to get high-quality video directly on the Web for a new generation of Web broadcasting. Designed to replace expensive and hard-to-set-up dedicated streaming encoders, the Blackmagic Web Presenter allows users to use professional cam- eras to stream high-quality video through their favourite software and websites. Also new is the HyperDeck Studio Mini, a “revolutionary new professional deck that is small- er and more versatile than any other deck in the world”, describes Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design. “It’s so exciting because it has DaVinci Resolve 14 will break through stagnant toolsets used in post production, says Blackmagic Design. the same powerful features as a full-sized broadcast deck. It records to incredibly small and affordable SD cards, and it has a modular design that lets customers create their own custom deck based on their needs!” he adds. For camera enthusiasts, Blackmagic Design is offering the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K, which features a custom 4.6K image sensor that captures up to 4608x2592 pixels with 15 stops of dynamic range and a super wide colour gamut. URSA Mini Pro, says Blackmagic Design, is ideal for everything from standard Rec.709 broadcast HD to the latest Rec.2020 high dynamic range digital film production ITU Recommendation. SGL presents integrated cloud archiving and new FlashNet toolset The new version of SGL’s FlashNet Infinity system now includes sup- port for integrated Amazon cloud archiving, S3-based object storage- based private cloud archiving and Sony’s Ci Media Cloud Platform. Central to SGL’s support for public and private cloud is the ability to manage and monitor the buckets and tiers into which assets can be stored, the company informs. FlashNet’s lifecycle rules engine easily moves assets between vari- ous platforms and storage areas, treating each as simply another storage destination. New features include: A naviga- tor tool to explore the entire set of archived assets in their original folder format; support for watch folder projects; advanced metadata support; and capacity analysis. The FlashNet upgrade is available free to all SGL FlashNet users covered by a current support contract who are running FlashNet 6.7 or later. SGL is also fully integrated with Sony’s Optical Disk Archive System (ODS) version 2. The inte- gration gives SGL users access to a greater choice of storage devices in DR, production, news and sports workflows. SGL’s FlashNet allows Sony’s ODS users to store valuable media safely with ease. With SGL’s experi- ence of managing multiple storage devices within production, news and sports, Sony’s ODS can sit any- where within a workflow, not simply as an “end of process” archive.
